Michael Somoroff is a conceptual artist, director and photographer. His mediums of choice include motion picture, photography and installation. Whether in motion picture, still image or his installation work, Somoroff has directed and created award-winning content of all kinds for virtually every major magazine and advertising agency, as well as a breadth of publications and cultural institutions around the globe. He has led the marketing efforts and management of prominent corporations on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition, he has earned an international reputation for radically redefining the categories of artistic production and the commerce these categories engage. The results of his creative endeavors are well represented in museum collections, international art fairs, galleries and diverse cultural platforms throughout the world. He was a principle partner in the creation of Macguffin Films Ltd., one of the world’s top tabletop production companies for 27 years. He is presently the founder of Somoroff+ Studios, New York City and Los Angeles, and an official “artist in residence” at the Wyss Translational Center, Zurich. He is a teacher and cultural commentator who has contributed to the programs of such prominent academic and cultural institutions as the State University of New York at Stony Brook; the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA; the Rothko Chapel, Houston, TX; and the International Center of Photography, New York City.
